Two of the Best Destinations for a Beach Holiday

The Caribbean – Although it’s a popular tourist destination, the Caribbean has managed to shy away from overcrowding to keep its peace and tranquillity intact. Barbados, for example, is a perfect example of this. Driving from the airport to your resort you’ll pass miles and miles of sugar canes used to make Barbados’ world famous rum and it’s only once you get into the towns that you’ll really see any civilisation. The place has just simply not been overdeveloped as is a beauty to see. The Caribbean has two popular types of accommodation; large resorts situated right on the beach which cater for large groups of tourists at a time, and small huts, again on the beach, which can be hired at great low prices and shared with friends for a cheaper more backpacking style option. The food is fantastic too, with traditional Bajan food both cheap and tasty.

The Philippines – The capital, Manila, is a great place to visit to experience culture and history. With museums charting the 7,107 islands’ history, including colonisation by the Spanish and, later, the US, it’s an interesting insight into one of the most diverse countries in the world. The culture has Spanish and American influences, with the Spanish being seen in many of its place names such as San Antonio. If you’re looking for a secluded beach paradise then the Philippines offers them in abundance, with miles and miles of untouched beaches. In the quieter areas you may have to make do with more basic hotels or beach huts (which is perfect if you’re travelling on a budget), but there are many luxurious hotels which line the shores and are well worth the money if you can afford to indulge yourself.
